  • To develop program recommendations related to Equity & Social Justice for consideration by the Executive;
  • To plan Equity and Social Justice workshops on behalf of the members of ETFO Toronto Occasional Teachers and create initiatives related to Equity and Social Justice;
  • To recognize barriers that impede our members and then advocate on their behalf;
  • To provide advice on the content, delivery and design of Equity and Social Justice workshops for Occasional Teachers;
  • To help check in members, set up chairs, provide snacks, distribute handouts, introduce, and thank presenter, and help with clean up for Equity and Social Justice Events;
  • To ensure event facilitators take the opportunity to provide a brief update of Local issues at the start of events;
  • To encourage member engagement in Equity and Social Justice events;
  • To advise the Executive on matters relating to the work of the committee;
  • To accommodate members by ensuring that all venues are accessible whenever possible;
  • To provide voluntary equity awareness training for the Local Executive
  • To receive input from the members on future Equity and Social Justice events and initiate member feedback after the program using short paper surveys (checklists/rating scales, jot notes, etc.) to encourage a quick response;
  • To make recommendations to the Budget Committee for the following budget year;
  • To ensure the Treasurer is provided with an invoice to create a cheque for the speaker/presenter when appropriate;
  • To take advantage of ETFO-sponsored Equity and Social Justice workshops/resources;
  • To take advantage of ETFO-funding for Equity and Social Justice events;
  • To continue to build a resource file for future ideas (i.e. including an open answer question on the feedback survey to generate member ideas/future interests).
